HOW CAN AN OFW FAMILY VIE FOR THE MODEL OFW FAMILY OF THE YEAR AWARD?




Nomination

The following groups may nominate an OFW family who meets the following qualifications:

  • Any non-government organization (NGO);
  • People’s organizations (POs);
  • Religious organizations or associations;
  • Community-based socio-civic organizations/associations; and
  • Local government units (LGUs);
  • No individual nomination shall be accepted.

Nomination Criteria

An OFW family to be eligible for nomination must have the following qualifications:

  • The family is headed by an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), land-based or sea-based, formerly or presently working abroad with a formal or informal contract of employment or work permit, and with proof of OWWA membership;
  • The OFW’s migration is a) not permanent, that is, s/he is a holder of valid Philippine passport, and does not have an immigrant status in a foreign country; and b) not irregular, that is, OFW’s employment is documented and she possesses a valid residency or work permit as well as other employment documents;
  • Nominations from overseas may be accepted provided the family of the nominee is in the Philippines;
  • The OFW, either married or single, is the head of the family, and has at least four (4) years of work experience as an OFW;
  • The OFW family is known as a solid/stable family in the locality;
  • A Certification of Family Solidarity by the Barangay Captain where the OFW resides, or the parish priest or the head of the religious sect to which the OFW family belongs shall be sufficient to establish good family relations;
  • Financially stable;
  • Previous MOFYA nominees who have not won at the regional level can be nominated again. However, MOFYA nominees who have won the regional MOFYA title shall not be allowed to join the said search thereafter;
  • Relatives of officials and employees of OWWA, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and its attached agencies, and the corporate sponsors of MOFYA up to the third degree of consanguinity and affinity are disqualified from nomination;

The nominating party must submit to any OWWA Regional Welfare Office (RWO) the following documentary requirements:

  • MOFYA FORMS
  • MOFYA Nomination Form
  • MOFYA Information Sheet
  • Certification of Family Solidarity
  • Additional Supporting Information and Documents
  • Other documents as may be required by OWWA/selection committee
